Are you a carer for someone with Parkinson’s?
It’s incredibly important to take care of yourself and your wellbeing if you are caring for someone with Parkinson’s.
A break from daily routines and responsibilities is important, especially if you care full-time because you are retired or don’t work and are with the person you care for 24 hours a day. Time off from caring responsibilities can be vital. Respite care can help both you and the person with Parkinson’s. It allows you both to have a break, and perhaps to socialise with other people.
Up to 50% of people with Parkinson’s will suffer from Anxiety or Depression at some point during their illness.
These conditions are often overlooked and undiagnosed. Living with Anxiety or Depression with Parkinson’s will worsen symptoms such as tremors, stiffness, sleep problems and pain and much more.
When left untreated, Anxiety and Depression reduces quality of life.
Bridgewater Day Care staff can provide support for the person you care for by them spending some time at our day care centre, providing you with a little time to do your own thing. We offer a FREE taster session – this can be booked for either morning before lunch, 10 am – 12 pm or for the afternoon session 1.30 pm – 3.30 pm.
